The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Please come to the school office with your National Insurance number, your Date of Birth, and e-mail address.
We can help you to complete an online check to see whether you are eligible to apply.

From September 2013 the Government has provided every school with additional funding for PE to improve the quality of Physical Education and Sports in Primary schools.
We believe that by fostering enjoyment in physical activities, children will continue to have an active and healthy lifestyle and we hope that our pupils continue to develop their physical skills during their lifetime. The funding we receive enables us to offer all our pupils a wide range of physical activities both within and outside of lessons, as well as expanding the range of clubs, competitions, and sporting opportunities to interest a wider number of pupils e.g.: archery, girls football, and boccia.
Specialist PE Coaching
Our specialist PE coaches play a vital part in the teaching and development of PE: they ensure our pupils receive a broad and varied curriculum, allow on-site CPD for both teachers and support staff, upskilling staff in School through shared teaching with the PE coaches, and offer both lunchtime and after school clubs.
Chance to Shine – Yorkshire Cricket Club
We are fortunate to be able to work with Yorkshire Cricket Club who provide stimulating and challenging cricket lessons for our children. This also provides first class CPD for our staff.
After School Jujitsu Club
We have been running a jujitsu club for 3 years now. Money has been made available for the children to grade and progress up the different levels.
With the use of the minibus, travelling to and from competitions is much easier and has allowed more pupils to take part in more Exceed competitions and sporting events. It also enables children to participate in residentials and outdoor educational trips and visits.
We are able to carry out sports days (as well as other sporting events) for all pupils in school on the school field; this is largely down to funding which allows for the upkeep of the fields and adjoining sports hall.
We also provide swimming tuition for every child in Year 4, to ensure that children in School have the opportunity to learn to swim.
The PE funding we have received each year has played a vital part in the attainment and progress of our children: additional activity means healthier children and better attendance which leads to better outcomes; fewer behaviour issues from those who enjoy sports; higher self-esteem and progress across the whole curriculum and an overall increase in the number of children benefitting from additional PE, games, outdoor education and residentials. We work closely with other schools, community groups and agencies to ensure that we can provide this for our children.
Farnham Primary School has assessed the positive impact that PE has for its pupils, and decided to spend more than the income received from the grant.
Please see both tables below - table 1 shows how we have actually used the funding, and table 2 shows how Farnham School has funded PE over and above the Government funding levels.
